# Salesforce Data Cloud FAQ

> Common questions about the Salesforce Data Cloud connector.

## Connector Lifecycle

> **What happens if I delete a connector?**
>
> Deleting a source triggers an approval workflow based on your organization's settings. Once approved, the source and all associated metadata are permanently deleted. The deletion cannot be undone after approval.

> **What happens to existing data and alerts if a connector is paused or disconnected?**
>
> Existing metadata, quality scores, and alerts are retained while the connector is inactive. No new data is collected until the connector is re-enabled. If the connector is permanently deleted (after approval), all associated data is removed.

## Salesforce Data Cloud-Specific

> **Which authentication method is supported?**
>
> OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials through a Salesforce Connected App or External Client App. Username and password authentication isn't supported. The Client ID and Client Secret can be entered directly or retrieved from a vault.

> **Which OAuth scopes does the app need?**
>
> `cdp_query_api`, `cdp_profile_api`, `api`, and `refresh_token`. Validation reports a missing scope by name. See [Setup](/sources/salesforce-data-cloud/setup#required-oauth-scopes).

> **Does Prizm change anything in Salesforce?**
>
> No. The connector is read-only. Rows that fail quality rules are written to an Iceberg table, never back to Salesforce.

> **How do I limit which data Prizm reads?**
>
> Use the Data Space include and exclude options on the configuration step to choose which Data Spaces Prizm catalogs.

> **Why does freshness show Unknown?**
>
> Data Cloud doesn't expose a refresh timestamp for every object. Prizm shows freshness only where the API returns one.

> **Are Reports and Dashboards available?**
>
> Not yet. The connector currently catalogs Data Lake Objects, Data Model Objects, and Calculated Insights.

> **Is usage tracking available?**
>
> No. Data Cloud doesn't expose a public API for query history or access frequency, so Prizm doesn't collect usage for this source.

> **Is this the same connector as Salesforce Sales Cloud or Marketing Cloud?**
>
> No. Salesforce Data Cloud is its own connector. Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud are separate sources with their own setup.
