# Salesforce Marketing Setup

> Preview: Installed Package setup, permissions, and connection steps for Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Preview.** The Salesforce Marketing connection form isn't available in Prizm yet, so the field names below come from the product requirements and may change.

## Prerequisites

| Requirement | Notes |
| :- | :- |
| Marketing Cloud account with API access | Marketing Cloud Engagement |
| An Installed Package with an API Integration component | Created below |
| Access to the right Business Unit | The package user needs access to the Business Unit (MID) you want to catalog |
| Network access | If your Marketing Cloud account restricts IP addresses, allow Prizm's connection. TLS 1.2 or higher is required |

## Create the Installed Package

**1. Open Installed Packages**

In Marketing Cloud, go to **Setup → Platform Tools → Apps → Installed Packages**.

**2. Create the package**

Click **New**, enter a package name, and save.

**3. Add an API Integration**

Open the package, choose **Add Component → API Integration**, and select the **Server-to-Server** integration type.

**4. Assign permissions**

Assign the permissions below and save. Marketing Cloud then shows the Client ID, Client Secret, and your tenant-specific base URIs.

### Permissions

| Access level | Objects |
| :- | :- |
| Read | Campaign, Documents and Images, Email, Journeys, List and Subscribers, OTT, Push, Saved Content, SMS, Social, Web |
| Read and Write | Data Extensions |
| Read, Write, and Execute | Automations |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Marketing Cloud's permission model grants Data Extensions and Automations at these levels. Confirm with your Prizm team exactly what Prizm does with them before granting, because the connector is described as read-only for cataloging and quality. Listing several Business Units through the API connection type may also need API catalog permissions.

## Connector Setup

**1. Open the connector wizard**

Navigate to **Source** and click the **+** icon next to the source list. Select **Salesforce Marketing** from the connector grid.

**2. Enter source details**

| Field | Description |
| :- | :- |
| Connection Name | A label for this connection |
| Connection Type | **API** (native REST and SOAP) or **JDBC** (table-based) |
| Subdomain | Your Marketing Cloud tenant subdomain |
| Client ID and Client Secret | From the package's API Integration component, entered directly or retrieved from a vault |
| Account ID | Optional Business Unit (MID) identifier |
| Instance URL | Optional custom instance URL for admin users (API connection type only) |

**3. Validate and save**

Click **Validate**. Prizm checks the credentials and required permissions and reports any missing permission. You can connect only after validation passes. Assets appear in the catalog once the first scan completes.
