Prizm connects to Sigma Computing to catalogue Workbooks, Pages, Data Elements, and Datasets; trace end-to-end lineage from warehouse tables through Sigma to end consumers; monitor freshness and refresh health; score criticality; and propagate data quality alerts from upstream data assets. The connector follows the same pattern established for Prizm’s Power BI and Tableau connectors.

Why Connect Sigma to Prizm?

Catalog & Context Prizm discovers every Workspace, Workbook, Page, Data Element, and Dataset, along with Sigma tags, and indexes them in the Prizm catalog. Calculated fields are identified separately from base fields and stored with their formula expression. Lineage Prizm traces the full chain from a warehouse table through a Sigma Dataset, Workbook, Page, and Data Element to the people actually viewing it — primarily via the Sigma Logs API, with Dataset warehouseSource metadata and direct column references as fallbacks. Data Quality DQ scores propagate to Sigma Workbooks and Datasets from the upstream warehouse tables that feed them via lineage, so a quality issue at the source is visible on the Sigma asset before someone builds a report on top of stale or broken data. Observability Workbook and Dataset freshness, refresh health, and usage are monitored on a schedule, with alerts for stale workbooks, failed refreshes, upstream schema changes, and workbooks nobody is viewing.

Authentication

Sigma only issues API access via Client ID + Client Secret — username/password authentication is a legacy fallback Sigma itself does not recommend for production use.

In scope: Workbooks, Pages, Data Elements, Datasets, Calculated Fields and Custom Measures, tag extraction, end-to-end lineage via the Sigma Logs API, criticality scoring, freshness/refresh monitoring, and DQ alert propagation from upstream sources. Not yet available: the dedicated Sigma Catalog/Quality/Observability analytics views (gated on Prizm’s Dynamic Dashboards work), the Sigma Chrome Extension, and catalog integrations to Alation, Atlan, and Azure Purview — these are on the roadmap but not part of this release.
